NO.2011  AN INSCRIBED DUAN INKSTONE

The inkstand is carved with lotus leaf shape. The underside is carved in Li script 隶书 with a twenty-character inscription indicating this inkstone belonged to Ji yun 纪昀. The characters are"荷叶承露,滴滴皆圆,可辟文心,妙造自然", with a carved allover decorated hardwood box.

Ji yun: also known as Ji Xiaolan, was a chinese philosopher, politician and writer. He was an influential scholar of qing dynasty and many anecdotes have been recorded about him.
纪昀(1724.7.26-1805.3.14)字晓岚,清代著名文学家、政治家、诗人。
